This wine is an hommage to J Harlen Bretz, the great geologist and Denier of the geological orthodoxy of Uniformitarianism. (The doctrine that all geological change is gradual). He proposed in 1927, that a catastrophic flood scoured eastern Washington’s basalt plateau. His colleagues rejected his theory out of hand. A new crop of scientists in the 1960’s confirmed his hypothesis, and Bretz was awarded geology’s highest honor at the age of 96.

The wine is 100% Malbec, aged 18 months in new and used French oak. Color Index: 69, Alcohol: 14%, pH: 3.6
